Victor Kashiri

What’s your career background?

I qualified as a learning disability nurse in 2003 and have worked within mental health services since 2004.  I have a wide range of experience in supporting services and service users with a wide range of mental health difficulties, such as schizophrenia, depression, anxiety, psychosis, post-traumatic stress disorder, personality disorder and acquired brain injury. Over the years I have worked in medium secure units, Community Adult care, prison services and community rehabilitation settings. During that time, I completed further studies and graduated in MSC personality disorders, BSC professional studies and PG cert in teaching (Management of Violence and Aggression). I have a passion for developing systems that promote personal and service development for trained nurses, student nurses and care support workers that will translate into effective and meaningful recovery and rehabilitation for people that use the services.

How long have you worked at Active Pathways for?

I started working at Active Pathways in 2017 as Clinical Lead for both The Hamptons and Brookhaven. I found this role challenging but rewarding at the same time as I got to work with different teams and organisations to reach a shared objective.

As of March 2021, I will moved from Clinical Lead to Deputy Manager of both our services in Preston.

Would you recommend working at Active Pathways to a friend?

Definitely. Active Pathways is a caring organisation that puts great effort into looking after its service users and those that work in the service. This is a place I would recommend to any healthcare professional, to experience progressive teamwork from both staff and service users.

If I had to describe Active Pathways in three words, I’d choose, inclusive, passionate and dynamic!
