New 15-bed service will provide structured, therapeutic residential support for men with complex mental health needs.
Active Pathways will open Fernside House in November 2025, offering a stable, psychology-informed environment for men who have reached, or are close to, their optimal level of functioning and require ongoing support in the community. The service focuses on risk reduction, recovery and quality of life, with person-centred planning, PBS principles and a tiered approach that matches support to assessed need. Residents will work with an on-site MDT — including psychology, occupational therapy and recovery teams — to build skills, confidence and independence, with clear pathways toward safe progression.
“Fernside House has been designed around what works: a calm therapeutic setting, consistent routines and practical support that helps people move forward at their own pace.” Katie Pilkington, Director of Operations
