We are delighted to announce the forthcoming opening of Willow Rise House, a new residential service for men aged 18 and over with complex mental health needs.
Willow Rise House is one of a number of Active Pathways services planned to open across the North of England in 2026/2027.
Willow Rise House will support men who are ready to move on from hospital and need continued residential care before progressing towards supported living or greater independence in the community.
The service will also offer a pathway for people who need a different level of support or are returning closer to home following an out-of-area placement.
We will work alongside each person to understand their needs, strengths and aspirations, with care focused on maintaining wellbeing, developing everyday skills and planning for the future.
Willow Rise House will provide 12 en-suite bedrooms, alongside shared lounges, dining and activity areas.
A dedicated skills kitchen will help people practise preparing meals and develop confidence in managing everyday tasks. Access to local amenities will support involvement in community life, from shopping and leisure activities to building positive routines and social connections.
Our aim is to make these experiences part of daily life, with support adapted to each person’s pace and goals.
Care and therapeutic support
The team will provide 24-hour support, with psychology and occupational therapy input to inform assessments, care planning and individual therapeutic programmes. Nursing support and guidance will be available through Active Pathways’ wider clinical team.
Regular reviews will help each person recognise progress, discuss what is working and agree the next steps. We will work closely with commissioners, community mental health teams, families and advocates, where appropriate, to provide coordinated support.

Active Pathways has more than 20 years of experience supporting people with mental health conditions, autism, learning disabilities and complex needs.
Willow Rise House forms part of our continued development across the North of England, providing more community-based options for people who need ongoing care and support.
