What’s your career background?
I worked in female medium and low secure services for approximately 10 years before I started working at Active Pathways.
How long have you worked at Active Pathways for?
I’ve been at Active Pathways since 2018, in March 2021 I progressed from a Team Leader at our Brookhaven location in Preston, to the Clinical Lead, before progressing further to become Clinical Development Manager at Active Pathways.
What does a day in the life of a Clinical Lead look like?
No two days are the same for my role which is great but if I had to name my main duties, they’d include supporting the leadership of the team and managing our clinical workers. I also help to contribute to the safe discharges of our service users, ensuring they have everything they need to succeed. For this role specifically, you need to be proactive in managing those where their mental state many have deteriorated and this needs to be co-ordinated into their care. I conduct day to day risk management as well and provide activities and rehab focused work for our service users. I’m really looking forward to progressing in my new role and developing my skills as a nurse.
What’s been your highlight so far about working at Active Pathways?
My highlight has got to be obtaining outstanding by the CQC and not forgetting the trip to an Alpaca and Llama farm!!! It’s also been amazing supporting the service through the COVID pandemic; seeing everyone’s hard work and perseverance in contributing to keeping the service safe has been wonderful to witness.
Would you recommend working at Active Pathways to a friend?
Absolutely! Active Pathways is a caring, motivating and passionate place to work and be a part of. The teamwork at Active Pathways is outstanding! But making a service user’s day meaningful and supporting them in their recovery journey is the most amazing thing.
